The 2026 Toyota SASAPD National Championships will take place in the Cape Winelands from 28–31 March 2026, bringing together athletes, coaches and officials from across South Africa to compete across multiple Para sport codes.
Behind the scenes, significant work continues to shape the future of Para sport in the country.
President Jean Miggels and her team have been actively engaged in meetings with various sport codes and convenors, using the national championships as a platform for strategic discussions and alignment.
These engagements go beyond the competition itself, creating space for planning, collaboration and decision-making across the federation. Among the key focus areas are long-term preparations and pathways leading towards the 2028 and 2032 Paralympic cycles.
The championships therefore not only serve as a stage for performance, but also as an important environment for strengthening structures, refining strategies and building towards future international success.
Across the competition programme, action is spread over multiple days and venues. Para Athletics runs from 29–31 March at Coetzenburg Athletics Stadium, while Para Cycling features across time trial, track and road race formats. Goalball, Boccia and CP Football continue throughout the championships, alongside Para Swimming sessions on 29–30 March. The programme also includes Para Judo and Para Powerlifting on the opening day, contributing to a full and diverse national event schedule.
