Para Powerlifting will feature as one of the key strength-based disciplines at the 2026 Toyota SASAPD National Championships, with competition taking place on Saturday, 28 March 2026 in Stellenbosch.
The event will be hosted at the Maties Indoor Tennis and Netball Hall, located within the Coetzenburg precinct, providing a dedicated competition environment for athletes competing across all divisions.
The programme begins with the official weigh-in session, where all athletes will be required to register and confirm their participation ahead of competition. This process is critical to ensure fair competition and accurate classification across all categories.
Competition will get underway in the early afternoon, with bench press events forming the core of the programme. Athletes will compete across multiple flights, showcasing strength, control and technical precision on the national stage.
Following the completion of lifting sessions, points will be calculated before the day concludes with the official medal presentation, recognising top performances across divisions.
As part of the broader championships, Para Powerlifting continues to play an important role in highlighting strength sport within the Para sport environment, with athletes from across South Africa expected to deliver competitive performances.
