All Codes Unite as 2026 Toyota SASAPD National Championships Take Shape in Stellenbosch

The 2026 Toyota SASAPD National Championships will once again bring together South Africa’s full Para sport community, with athletes from all nine provinces converging in Stellenbosch from 27–31 March 2026.

More than just a competition, the championships represent a unique moment where eight sporting codes come together on one national platform, creating an environment where athletes across different classifications, disciplines and performance levels compete side by side.

From the outset, the focus is on delivering structured and fair competition across all codes, supported by registration and classification processes that ensure athletes are correctly grouped and able to perform at their best.

Competition gets underway on Saturday, 28 March, with Para powerlifting, Para judo and boccia among the first codes in action, alongside key federation engagements that bring the sport structures together.

From Sunday through to Tuesday, the full programme unfolds across Stellenbosch, with all eight sport codes actively competing across multiple venues.

Para athletics forms the backbone of the championships, running across three days at Coetzenburg Athletics Stadium, while Para swimming features on Sunday and Monday at the Coetzenburg Outdoor Swimming Pool.

Goalball, boccia and CP football run consistently throughout the programme, creating a strong presence for team and precision-based sports, while Para cycling adds another dimension with time trial, track and road race events.

The strength of the championships lies in this multi-code environment, where athletes from across the country compete within one unified system, showcasing both the diversity and depth of Para sport in South Africa.

The Opening Ceremony at Coetzenburg Athletics Stadium provides a central moment of celebration for all participating codes, bringing together athletes, officials and stakeholders in recognition of the collective effort behind the championships.
