The official event programme for the 2026 Toyota SASAPD National Championships has been finalised, with Stellenbosch set to host a full week of activity from 27–31 March 2026.
Proceedings will begin on Friday, 27 March with venue set-ups, registration and classification sessions taking place across Coetzenburg Athletics Stadium and Paarl School, ensuring all athletes are prepared for competition.
Saturday, 28 March marks the formal start of competition, alongside key administrative engagements including the SASAPD AGM, team managers meeting and sport code meetings. Competitive action will begin with Para powerlifting, Para judo and boccia, before the focus shifts to the Opening Ceremony at Coetzenburg Athletics Stadium.
The Opening Ceremony will take place at 17:00 and will coincide with the evening session of the Cape Winelands International event, creating a combined showcase of national and international Para athletics.
From Sunday, 29 March, the championships move into full competition mode. Para athletics will run across three days at Coetzenburg Athletics Stadium, forming the core of the programme. Supporting codes including goalball, boccia and CP football will run concurrently at venues across Stellenbosch.
Para swimming will take place on Sunday and Monday at the Coetzenburg Outdoor Swimming Pool, while Para cycling events will be staged across multiple formats, including the time trial, track and road race.
Monday, 30 March continues the packed schedule with all major sport codes in action, maintaining momentum across athletics, cycling, goalball, boccia and CP football.
The championships will conclude on Tuesday, 31 March with final sessions across all codes, followed by the Closing Ceremony at Coetzenburg Athletics Stadium, bringing the 2026 edition to a close.
Athletes and officials will depart on Wednesday, 1 April following a week that once again highlights the scale, structure and importance of the SASAPD National Championships within the South African sporting calendar.
