Multi-Code Classification Foundation Course, set to take place in Cape Town

SASAPD is proud to announce the Multi-Code Classification Foundation Course, set to take place in Cape Town in conjunction with the 2026 SASAPD National Championships.

This important initiative forms part of SASAPD’s ongoing commitment to strengthening Para Sport structures in South Africa, with a specific focus on education, capacity building and the integrity of classification across multiple sporting codes.

The course has been structured to accommodate different target groups, ensuring both sport stakeholders and medical professionals are equipped with the knowledge required to support fair and credible competition.

Group 1 – One Day Course
Date: 25 March 2026

This session, titled “Para Sport Classification Explained”, is designed for coaches, administrators, athletes and support personnel.

The focus will be on providing a clear introduction to Para Sport Classification and eligibility, helping participants better understand how athletes are assessed and grouped within competitive structures.

Group 2 – Foundation and Practical Training

This extended stream is aimed at physiotherapists, occupational therapists and other interested health and sport professionals seeking deeper technical insight.

Programme structure:
25 March 2026 – Foundation theory
26–30 March 2026 – Sport-specific practical training and observation

Participants will gain both theoretical grounding and hands-on experience during the National Championships environment.

  • Para Cycling
  • Boccia
  • CP Football
  • Para Powerlifting (subject to confirmation)
